Sunset Sail - Ambergris Caye
I have to say, there are few places that can compare to the tropical paradise of Belize for a special occasion or friend getaway. Ambergris Caye, in particular, holds a special place in my heart and I always recommend it as the perfect destination for a milestone birthday or celebration.
My most recent trip there only reinforced my love for this wonderful country and its people. We chose to stay at the new Alaia property, south of San Pedro, and it was an absolute dream. The resort was stunning with its huge ocean view suites, beautiful grounds, and an incredible pool,complete with a swim-up bar. And if that wasn't enough, they even have a rooftop pool! But the true cherry on top was the food and service. It was truly second to none. We ended up canceling our dinner reservations elsewhere just so we could dine at the resort again. I'm telling you, their fish tacos are out of this world!
Another one of the best parts of staying in Ambergris Caye is having the freedom to explore the island with a rental golf cart. We were able to discover the charming downtown of San Pedro and the many delicious restaurants and bars that the island has to offer. There's truly something for everyone, from fresh caught seafood to authentic Belizean cuisine and so much more. Our list of favorite spots on Ambergris Caye keeps growing and changing.
But the highlight of the trip had to be the private sunset catamaran sail that we booked. It was nothing short of magical. The crew was so accommodating, friendly and knowledgeable. They took care of us and our every need as we watched the sun slowly dip below the horizon,painting the sky with vibrant colors. They served up delicious cocktails and snacks, and even helped us identify constellations and planets after the sun had set. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience and I couldn't recommend it more.
