Beautiful day with a mysterious rainbow cloud

Belize will forever now be one of my favorite places I've visited.  From the beautiful rain forest, to their white sandy beaches, to the food and service there.

I split my eight night stay between three distinctly different portions of Belize. After landing in Belize City, I ventured into the rain forest to stay at Chaa Creek just outside St Ignacio. The scenery was so beautiful it hardly seemed real.  The monkeys, the butterflies, the frogs, all in an ideal luxury setting.  Quiet and relaxing with no televisions helped me kick back and be "off the grid" for a couple of nights, but there was plenty to do with nature walks, hiking, horseback riding, and the amazing spa.

My next destination was Placencia along the coast of Belize.  There is a convenient airstrip located on this peninsula allowing you to get there very easily and affordably.  During my stay at Chabil Mar, I was within walking distance of downtown Placencia.  The vibe was so laid back with the tiny boardwalk of restaurants, shops and bars.  Safe and convenient to the resort, each night we found ourselves in town exploring all the local flavors. The food and service are absolutely amazing.  Chabil Mar resort was beautifully located and wonderful for honeymooners or families.  Their villa style units were large, well appointed, and most had incredible ocean and sunset views.

My Tropic Air flight took me from Placencia to San Pedro, Belize on Ambergris Caye next.  You land right in the hustle and bustle of their tiny city.  Locals and tourists exploring the town for anything you may need or want.  Plenty of open air restaurants and bars with ocean views could keep you entertained for many nights.  I fell in love with Blue Ocean Grill during an afternoon long lunch, but it was one of many enjoyable meals while on the island.   I stayed at Grand Caribe in a gorgeous one bedroom ocean view room.  These rooms are also villa style which are great to have a bit more space and the ability to fix yourself a snack or cup of coffee.

Venturing around Ambergris Caye was easy on a golf cart.  We even took a quick ride out to Secret Beach (not sure it's all that secret anymore) for an afternoon of being in the water yards and yards out on a wonderful sandbar.  The island is full of adventures from snorkeling and diving the Blue Hole and the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef (the 2nd largest but most healthy reef in the world).

Going to "Belize" is more than just going and staying in one place.  Moving between regions I feel is key to getting the entire feel of this magnificent country.
